Lyrics

A guardian chooses to remain when every road points away.

Morning gathered, pale and still,
Whispers crossed the silent hill.
Every road was leading far,
Every eye sought brighter stars.

Some would leave before first light,
Some would vanish with the night.
She looked back where children slept,
And remained where others wept.

If hope must vanish with the day,
Then by their side I choose to stay.

I will be the morning flame,
Long after none recall my name.
If tomorrow learns to rise,
Let it open fearless eyes.

I was never born to reign,
Only stand through loss and pain.
Every soul that calls this home…
Is the dawn I’m holding on.

No command disturbed the night,
Only eyes that held the light.
One by one the lanterns burned,
Still she watched and never turned.

Some recalled a softer spring,
Songs they thought they’d always sing.
She became what they could see:
Quiet strength and dignity.

If hope must vanish with the day,
Then by their side I choose to stay.

I will be the morning flame,
Long after none recall my name.
If tomorrow learns to rise,
Let it open fearless eyes.

I was never born to reign,
Only stand through loss and pain.
Every soul that calls this home…
Is the dawn I’m holding on.

Time will wear the tallest stone,
Rivers smooth the hardest bone.
Yet a promise softly kept
Lives in those who stayed and wept.

When the longest night moves on,
They will speak of what was done.

I will be the morning flame,
Though the years forget my name.
Let the darkness take the sky,
Still the morning will arise.

Not because I could not run,
Not because the war was won.
Every heart that carried on…
Made a lioness of dawn.
