Winter Keep

First snow crowned the walls in white,
Iron clouds consumed the light.
A hundred shields beneath the wall
Swore no foe would see us fall.

Let the black wind tear the sky,
Stone and blood shall testify.
Hear the oath our fathers made:
Here we stand, still unafraid.

Hold these walls throughout the night,
Raise our steel into the fight.
Shield to shield, we face the flame;
No retreat - defend our name.

When the frozen stars are gone,
We will greet the rising Dawn.
Though the storm may take us all,
Our sacred walls will never fall.

Weeks went by in bitter gray,
Wolf cries chased the light away.
Every arrow, every flame
Only forged our hearts the same.

Hunger walked the frozen hall,
Shadows climbed the outer wall.
Still each sunrise found us there,
Breathing frost and answered prayer.

Hold these walls throughout the night,
Raise our steel into the fight.
Shield to shield, we face the flame;

When the frozen stars are gone,
We will greet the rising Dawn.

The final torch burned faint and low,
Beneath the weight of ice and snow.
Our weary hands still gripped the blade,
No soul betrayed the oath we made.

The gate still bore the hammer’s cry,
Yet none would bow though death stood by.
If Winter claimed our final breath,
We’d keep these walls in life or death.

Hold these walls throughout the night,
Through the Dawn we won the fight.
Winter could not break our wall,
Still these stones refuse to fall.

Now the frozen stars are gone,
First light crowns the walls of stone.
Those who stood are legends all,
Winter Keep will never fall.
